Working on my 36-pack

Yesterday’s workout was rather grueling. I always tell athletes to listen to their bodies. My body told me to take it easy today.

I arrived at CFS at 8, and spent much time stretching and working on mobility.

Strength/Skill
Snatch

I’ve been doing quite a bit of power snatching, but haven’t been focusing enough on full squat snatches. I kept the weight light, only working up to 85#. When the weight is light, I have little difficult dropping under the bar and squatting below parallel. However, when the weight gets heavier, fear sets in and I resort to power snatching. Dammit. I took much resolve to finally, after 2 failed attempts, to complete a full snatch with 85# over my head.

Conditioning
5 rounds for time
Row 250m
10 GHD sit-ups
1-minute plank hold

My goals were to complete rounds of GHD sit-ups unbroken, to hold plank for entire minute without dropping a knee, and to complete metcon in less than 15 minutes. While much more challenging than I thought it was going to be, I did achieve my goals.

This was a workout that focused almost exclusively on the abs and midline. Thank goodness I have a 24-pack. I honestly thought that I might have to rest during last round of sit-ups, and I had to fight to hold last plank for the entire minute. Total time was 14:28.

I’ve invited some friends to visit the box before the official opening, and quite a few have taken me up on the offer. I was happy beyond belief that my very good friends Mary-Ann and Jay not only visited, but also brought their 3 children in tow. I’ve known Mary-Ann and Jay for almost 25 years, and even spoke at their wedding. Thanks for visiting, Team Awesome!
