5K run and more!

1463038_572450136153645_506304953_nWhat a tremendously fun and meaningful day at CFS! We hosted our first “Barbells for Boobs” event and is was a HUGE success. Twenty-one and 22 athletes attended the 8:30 and 9:45 sessions, respectively. I am pleased that everyone cooperated, as folks had to share stations at the pull-up rig, kettle bells, and barbells. Thank you, Surmounties! It was truly a sight to behold.

I’m very good with managing large crowds. Uhm, I kinda like telling people what to do.

As I was unable to complete “Helen” or “Grace” during either of the sessions and as yesterday’s workout was somewhat grueling, I completed my own workout and began just after noon.

Even though I love, love, love running, this workout was nonetheless quite challenging. Well, not the running and/or the air squats, and for the first 4 rounds the chest to bar pull-ups weren’t that challenging either.

Uhm, after completing so many ring dips and muscle ups just yesterday, I knew any activities involving the shoulders was going to be a challenge.

And that’s why I did this workout. Sometimes the body just needs a challenge.

All 5 rounds of 1,000m running were a pure delight.

I completed the first 2 rounds of 5 HSPUs unbroken, but failed last rep of both 3rd an 4th rounds. Dammit. Yup, I like saying dammit. While I did complete last rep of both rounds, neither reps were quality in that if I were being judged any judge worth their salt would’ve called no rep as my feet didn’t remain in contact with the wall. I nonetheless didn’t attempt another rep and continued with chest to bar pull-ups.

And this haunted me during both 3rd and 4th 1,000m run.

I completed rounds of 5, 10, & 15 chest to bar pull-ups unbroken, and round of 20 in reps of 10, 4, & 6. I completed the last round in reps of 5, 5, 5, and then doubles and singles. Uhm, yeah, so the last 6 reps were singles.

After I dropped from the bar I thought, “If I were being judged, 2 oaf those reps wouldn’t have counted, as I didn’t make contact with the bar.

I decided then and there to complete 2 negative HSPUs and 2 chest to bar pull-ups. And that’s what I did.

My times were 35:02 and 35:49.

We had a delightful lunch with the de Leons and Burkes. I drank 2 beers. Two. And it was good.
