Although others completed today’s programmed workout during Open Gym for all intents and purposes I completed solo.
As an aside, I’m watching a documentary on Antarctica. It’s fascinating. I don’t know that I could live a week without sunshine let alone four months.
Metcon (Time)
For Time:
Run 1.5 miles
Deadlift 7000
Back squat 6000
Floor press 5000
You may complete activities in any order; however, you must complete all reps of an activity before beginning another activity.
You may choose weight lifted; however, you may not decrease weight once you begin.
You may use a rack for back squats.
As the title of this blog suggests, I challenged myself. Instead of running first as a way to warm up, I ran last, as I knew that my legs would be exhausted.
I also began with quite heavy deadlifts, settling on 265#, about 70% of 1RM. I took my time whilst completing 29 deadlifts. At one point I got distracted by someone else working by and let the bar get out in front of me. I haven’t missed a deadlift in as long as I can remember, but I did so today.
I next completed floor presses, having settled on 105# and beginning with 10 unbroken reps and ending with 2 rounds of 4 unbroken reps. I could’ve probably gone a little heavier.
I cleaned the bar, stripped the 5s, and added 25s for 145#. I’m glad that I decided upon 145#, as that shit got heavy fast. I completed reps in sets of 5 except for 2 sets of 6 reps.
Running after back squatting is never easy and I found it particularly difficult to do so today. My sorry ass was dragging.
I recorded start and finish times and then recorded totals in Wodify: DL 3:23, FL 3:00, BS 4:15, and run 11:50. That’s a very slow run for me.
I encouraged other to challenge themselves and not begin with run. No one did. No. One. Did.
